Existing Programs:

None.

Legislature Status:

Adjourned; bills carry over to next session.

Pending Legislation:

None.

Breakdown:

Kansas considered four separate bills that would have created a neovoucher program in 2013. One of them made it onto the House floor, where it was voted down in March. Kansas also considered creating a voucher program in 2012; that measure also died in the House of Representatives.

Should the legislature vote through school choice legislation in its future sessions, Governor Sam Brownback will likely sign the bill, having expressed support for voucher and tax credit scholarship programs.
