Existing Programs:

Legislature Status:

Adjourned.

Pending Legislation:

None.

Summary:

Nevada’s Constitution would need to be amended for a school voucher program to be established. Tax credit scholarships, however, are possible. Governor Brian Sandoval has made private school choice legislation one of his major goals since taking office, but has not made much progress. Sandoval unsuccessfully tried to amend the Constitution to pave the way for vouchers in 2011, and introduced tax credit scholarship legislation during the 2013 session, which made it out of committee but no further.
