A Republican-submitted tax credit scholarship proposal failed in committee this session; however, the House Education Committee created an interim committee to study the possibility of creating a school voucher program in the state.

Notably, the University of Arkansas is the home of the School Choice Demonstration Project, a group devoted to the study of school choice headed by Patrick J. Wolf — who himself is an outspoken advocate for voucher programs.
