Summary:

Based of state Constitution’s strict Blaine Amendment, a voucher program may not be feasible in the state. However, a tax credit scholarship program is a possibility.

No private school choice legislation was proposed during the 2013 session. The last major attempt to legislate private school choice was in 2011, when an amendment that would have gotten rid of prohibitive language in the Constitution was proposed.

Governor Jay Nixon opposes private school choice.
